I am finding it hard to write a review on this final installment of King’s Dark Tower series without giving away spoilers. We join Roland and his gang in their Quest for the Dark Tower and are rejoined by some old friends! (Both old to this series and to others!)

I have to admit? Ted Brannigan was like an old friend to me, having read and loved Hearts in Atlantis many years ago. (I love the way Mr. King brings back other characters, that is part of what has endeared this series to me so greatly.) His part in this story was great, and it also was symbolic of the beginning of the end, which I am still bittersweet about.

Without giving away spoilers (and thus making this review insanely short) I am happy with the ending, for the most part. I am happy with how the story works out for the Ka-Tet; most especially for Susannah Dean, Eddie Dean, Jake Chambers and Oy. There were definite bumps along the road. (Two particular incidents where I called my husband at work, yelling and cussing through my tears, comes to mind.) But in the end, I think this series ended as well as it could have. Yet as with any long and much anticipated series, there is no way to please all of King’s readers.
