Armchair BEA Intros

After a lot of thought (and a 2 week break from blogging!) I thought Armchair BEA would be the perfect way to get myself back into the world of book blogging! I look forward to meeting new bloggers this week :)

Please tell us a little bit about yourself: Who are you? How long have you been blogging? Why did you get into blogging?

I am Jac (short for Jacqueline) and I’m an older book blogger. I’m 29, and a mommy to an awesome 4 year old. I live in Southern Colorado – although spending some time in my hometown in Nebraska for awhile right now.

I got into blogging last July when I first discovered there was a community for book nerds like me! I thought it was the perfect opportunity to share my love for books with people who would actually listen.

What are you currently reading, or what is your favorite book you have read so far in 2012?

Currently? I’m reading Summer Nights by Susan Mallery (although I only have about 7% left to read, so it’ll be done soon!) And Under the Dome by Stephen King.

My favorite reads of 2012? That’s such a tough question. I would say my favorite Stand Alone title so far has been In Honor by Jessi Kirby. But series wise? Molly Harper’s Jane Jameson series has been probably my favorite, closely followed by Rhiannon Frater’s “As the World Dies” trilogy.  (But ask again tomorrow? I’m sure I’ll have a different set of answers!)

Tell us one non-book-related thing that everyone reading your blog may not know about you.

I am a “retired” truck driver. I spent 5 years as a long haul truck driver both before and after my daughter was born! (She spent 16 months on the road!) It was a pretty non-traditional career, but I loved (nearly) every minute of it!

What is your favorite feature on your blog (i.e. author interviews, memes, something specific to your blog)?

I love my “What The..?!” feature. I decided to start a discussion feature to talk about hot-topics, things that made me say “What the heck?!?!” in the book community – it’s turned into a bit more than that, occasionally being a how-to or 101 feature too. But I’d like to focus more on hot-topics, unfortunately sometimes it’s pretty boring!
Where do you see your blog in five years?

Hopefully I’ll have a few more followers *lol* But really? I’d be happy if I’m still plugging along at a rate as I am right now. Still reading lots, reviewing a few books a week and just having fun with it.
If you could eat dinner with any author or character, who would it be and why?

Holy cow – this is such a hard question!!

Author wise? I’d love to have dinner with Stephanie Perkins. I think she’d be a lot of fun, and I think we’d get along really well. (Although I’d also love Rhiannon Frater, Molly Harper, Susan Mallery, Stephen King, and about a zillion others!)

Characters? Again – this is tough! Jane Jameson!! I think that I’d have a group dinner with all of the characters from her books.
What literary location would you most like to visit? Why?

I’d go to Hogsmeade.  I suppose simply because it would make it all real!! Harry, the whole magical world, all of it!
What is your favorite part about the book blogging community? Is there anything that you would like to see change in the coming years?

The community itself is my favorite part of being part of the book blogging community.
Have your reading tastes changed since you started blogging? How?

They haven’t really changed – I’ve always been a pretty eclectic reader and I like to think that I still am. Although I have read so many books I never would have picked up – mostly paranormal/zombie/sci fi – before I started blogging.
