Summer break . . . and the livin’ ain’t easy
Just because the students at New York College have flown the coop doesn’t mean assistant residence hall director Heather Wells can relax. Fischer Hall is busier than ever, filled with squealing thirteen- and fourteen-year-old girls attending the first ever Tania Trace Teen Rock Camp, hosted by pop sensation Tania Trace herself–who just happens to be newly married to Heather’s ex-boyfriend, heartthrob Jordan Cartwright. But the real headache begins when the producer of a reality TV show starring Tania winds up dead . . . and it’s clear that the star was the intended victim.
Grant Cartwright, head of Cartwright Records, wants to keep his daughter-in-law (and his highest-earning performer) alive. So he hires his oldest son, black sheep of the family and private investigator Cooper Cartwright–who just happens to be Heather’s “new” fiancE. Heather should leave the detecting to Cooper. But with a dorm full of hysterical mini-divas-in-training, she can’t help but get involved. And after Tania shares a really shocking secret with her, “this” reality suddenly becomes more dangerously real than anyone ever anticipated.
I love Heather Wells, a few years back I was looking for a good fluffy book and I remembered how much I loved Meg Cabot’s Queen of Babble series, so I started hunting down more from her adult books and was quickly hooked on Heather Wells. It’s been five years since the last book in this series (Big Boned) came out and I was thrilled when I saw that there was a new one!
Meg Cabot’s writing stays consistent with her other adult novels, hilarious and heartwarming! These books really are the perfect summer read to escape the stress of a family vacation (which was when I chose to read this one, a week I was surrounded by both my family and my husbands!)
All of the usual suspects make appearances in Ready to Rock! Heather, the former teen idol is keeping busy over the summer with her job as assistant resident hall director now that Tania Trace (her ex-boyfriends new – and pregnant- wife) is hosting a summer Rock Camp at the dorm. And of course, the not-so-mysterious death of a television producer has Heather back on the hunt for the killer! And this time, her fiance (and private detective) Cooper Cartwright is on campus investigating too!
This is possibly my favorite of the series, mostly because we get so much action between Heather and Cooper! I love seeing them together, so many swoon-worthy moments and so much laughter! (Heck, any book in which a hot guy shows up wearing a fanny pack is worth a read!)
I highly recommend the Heather Wells series to fans of Meg Cabot! But you’ve probably already read this series if you’re already a fan!
