Richelle Mead has a way of writing that lets you pick up a new book and slip immediately back into the world of her characters, and The Golden Lily is no different. It had been months since I’d read Bloodlines, and yet it felt like I’d never left Palm Springs!

I could talk about a lot of things in this book, the action (which there is plenty) the world building (also plenty!) and the awesome interaction between characters. Then there’s the seamless integration with the sister series, Vampire Academy. The intrigue of who the thugs targeting Moroi are. The insane amount of budding romance running rampant throughout the circle of friends. Or the many appearances by my beloved Dimitri Belakov.  But, I am not going to focus on any of that. Let’s focus on what you really came to read this review about.

Adrian Ivashkov.

Yes, I just heard a collective *SWOON* from around the blog-o-sphere. If you are looking for a sexy vampire? Forget about the Cullen boys, Lestat de Lioncourt, Eric Northman and Angel. Adrian Ivashkov is where it’s at ladies!

This book has so many wonderful plot-lines, but what I really loved was Adrian’s story! He’s been financially cut off by his dad, his mom is (avoiding a spoiler) dealing with the remnants of the Vampire Academy story line, and now he also seems to have a bit of a problem in the romantic department as well. (And it has nothing to do with Rose, thank Pete!) So there is more than enough of Adrian to go around!

Oh, and I mentioned romance? There’s lots of it in this book! Sydney gets romantically involved, and Jill and a *gasp* human keep up their romance! Even Eddie finally gets a little romantic action in this one! It’s just great, there’s so much teen angst that it has me wishing I could go back and fall in love for the first time all over again! And the kissing?? WOAH!

So, in the end? Yes, I would recommend The Golden Lily! (And I highly recommend starting at the beginning of Vampire Academy and working your way through both series! You won’t regret it!)
