TGIF {Flashback} / Follow Friday

Brought to you by the lovely Ginger @ GReads

Friday, July 20th - Throwback TGIF: Pick a previous question you posted on your blog in the past & revisit your answer. Has it changed since then?

Friday, July 29th (2011) -Character Envy: If you could be one character from a book, who would you choose & why?

Ooo! Since next week is my 1st Blogoversary? I thought I’d just pick the very first TGIF I did here on For Love and Books! My answer was Marlena from Water For Elephants (which is one of my top five favorites of all time!) although I wouldn’t want to be in her relationship with August? I would definitely want her life with Jacob, and with the circus!

My answer, a year later? While I still love Merlena, my answer is VERY different. I have a tougher choice this go round. The first character that popped into my mind was Lola! (Lola and the Boy Next Door by Stephanie Perkins.) Just because she’s so crazy awesome. Her hair, her style, etc. My other thought was Rose from Vampire Academy. Because not only does she kick serious bum? But she has Dimitri! *Swoon*

Q: Christmas in July! Someone gives you a gift card for two books (whatever that costs). What two books will you buy?

This is an easy answer for me! (Although it proves what a dork I really am!)

A few years back, my husband and I read a series by Ellen Emerson White (written as Zack Emerson) they were his favorite books as a kid, so we re-read them while I was pregnant and we were reminiscent about childhood favorites.  He had the first 3 books, and I was able to snag the 5th book off of Amazon – but book #4? That’s a whole different story. The cheapest I’ve found is a used copy on Amazon for $39.95, and I just can’t justify that for this series – which I enjoyed, but not THAT much. (However, I’ve linked the image of Stand Down to the Amazon page if anyone is feeling generous *wink* or if my parents happen to read this and want to spoil me!

Book Number 2? That’s a bit tougher. I’d probably hunt down and find a complete box set of The Dark Tower series by Stephen King. Autographed. Hardcover. (Does that exist? I know that he switched publishing houses a few times during print runs…)
