It’s been months since the ghost of Anna Korlov opened a door to Hell in her basement and disappeared into it, but ghost-hunter Cas Lowood can’t move on.
His friends remind him that Anna sacrificed herself so that Cas could live—not walk around half dead. He knows they’re right, but in Cas’s eyes, no living girl he meets can compare to the dead girl he fell in love with.
Now he’s seeing Anna everywhere: sometimes when he’s asleep and sometimes in waking nightmares. But something is very wrong…these aren’t just daydreams. Anna seems tortured, torn apart in new and ever more gruesome ways every time she appears.
Cas doesn’t know what happened to Anna when she disappeared into Hell, but he knows she doesn’t deserve whatever is happening to her now. Anna saved Cas more than once, and it’s time for him to return the favor.
Girl of Nightmares picks up just a few months after Anna Dressed in Blood, and Kendare Blake does a wonderful job of pulling us right back into Cas’ world as thought we’d never left.
However, there are many ways that this book is different from it’s predecessor. Anna was an action packed horror movie with a scream and a ghost around every corner. Girl of Nightmares was just that, a nightmare. You aren’t sure what’s coming next, what is real and what is just your imagination. And it’s the worst kind of nightmare, it happens while you are actually awake.
Kendare Blake’s words paint a vivid picture, her characters take up residence in your heart and you find yourself never wanting this story to end. Unfortunately, it does end. It wraps up the story of Cas and Anna nicely, and everyone gets a proper goodbye.
I highly recommend both Anna Dressed in Blood and Girl of Nightmares to just about anyone! Even if you are like me (a wimp who sleeps with the lights on after something scary!) you will lose yourself in this world and be turning pages as quickly as possible to find what comes next!
