Shark Bait Blog Hop! {Character Interview & Giveaway!}
Jeff Larson, (one of my favorite characters from Jenn Cooksey‘s Shark Bait) has stopped by my blog today with a FABULOUS character interview as part of the Shark Bait Blog Hop!
Before I get to Jeff’s interview – I wanted to tell you all that this is my absolute favorite book of 2012, and it definitely ranks in my top ten books of all time!! (Just ask Jenn, I have taken up residence as her #1 fan-girl on twitter! Seriously – I cannot get over how much I love this book and have gifted copies to my family and friends!) Now – on to the good stuff (and the Giveaway!) but please, do yourself a favor and read this book! (And my review!)
Hi everyone! This is Jenn Cooksey, author of Shark Bait. Today Jac has been kind enough to interview one of my characters here on For Love & Books, but I’ve been having some technical difficulties with my internet so to make sure you all get Jeff’s answers to Jac’s questions, I asked him to just write them down. We were hoping to do this live in some way, but I’m deficient when it comes to computer stuff and my router went out. I’ve been working like mad to get my internet up and running again, but it’s not wanting to cooperate. I’m sure it’s user-error, but still. Anyway, that’s why we’re doing it this way. Better safe than sorry, right? Oh and just so you all know, I did actually preview the questions and his answers before typing it all up and sending it off. Why, you ask? Well, first of all, no one touches my computer (even if it isn’t online) or my phone (which is my only piece of technology that’s working right now and how I’m transcribing and emailing Jeff’s interview—*sigh*), but more importantly, I don’t trust Jeff as far as my sixteen-year-old cat can throw him. Just sayin’…
So, without further ado, here’s Jeff!
FINALLY!!
Okay, so my name’s Jeff Larson and I’m a character in Jenn Cooksey’s book, Shark Bait. It’s the first book in the 6-book Grab Your Pole series and while it’s true that I’m not the main character, I still have a big part. My best friend, Tristan, has been lording it over my head that I’m not important in the GYP series, but clearly, I am. I mean why else would I be interviewed? Plus, I’m sexier than he is, so he can suck it. Like I get that I’m not like THE main character, but come on! I am pretty damned important here, so Jac, thank you for recognizing my awesomeness by wanting to hear what I have to say and having me on your blog today in the Shark Bait Back to School Blog Hop. Although my ego would’ve appreciated a different question to start off with, but whatever, I’ll take it.
1. As Tristan’s life-long best friend, I have to ask! When did you first notice that there might be something different with him in regards to Camie?
This one’s easy. It was the very first time he saw her at the beach over the summer. I was there. He didn’t know anything about her, including her name, but he was done at first sight. And yeah I know it was my idea, but I was just joking about him taking that damned picture! But, the dude was so far gone; he actually took a picture of her! I mean who the hell does that?!
2. Since I’m dying to know more about your relationship with Kate, I know you fell in love with her in elementary school, but what was your first official date? I NEED the details!
Well, like you said, we were kids when we got together, so we didn’t actually go on “dates” and Tristan was usually always with us too, but the first time we did anything together that was just the two of us, we rode our bikes up to the top of Mt. Helix and had a picnic. We were in sixth grade and it was three years to the day from when I kissed her that first time. She was wearing a red t-shirt, jean shorts with a white belt that had red kisses on it, and she had on red and white polka dot flip-flops. She made these really horrible Velveeta cheese sandwiches and I ate every last bite of mine. Then I gave her the gold hoopy earrings I spent four hours picking out for her the weekend before with my dad. She loved them so much; she wore them every day for the last five years. I just had to buy her a new pair, though, because they got thrown in a pool at a party and I could only find one of them. I swear to God, if I ever find that monkey, heads are gonna roll!!
3. Throughout Shark Bait, ringtones are kind of a big deal. What’s your ringtone for Tristan?
Def Leppard’s “Women.” Trust me, it fits. Maybe Jenn can find you a link if her internet gets fixed before this whole thing goes live…
Def Leppard – Women
4. So it’s your birthday, and Kate is going to cook you your favorite meal for a romantic night at home! What’s for dinner? (And dessert?)
Horrible Velveeta cheese sandwiches, and Katy never makes me eat dessert before she gives me my present.
5. And, on the food line! If you and Kate are going to the movies? Who picks, and what did you see? (And more importantly, what snacks did you get??)
Katy picks everything we watch even if it’s just TV. Well, except the last time we went to the movies…we went on a double date and neither of us chose the movie. And honestly, I don’t remember what we saw because she’d just gotten home from being at cheer camp for like more than a week and she was in New Jersey for a couple weeks before that, so it was like the first time I had her relatively to myself in a dark room, and you gotta know I wasn’t paying attention to the damned movie. And as for snacks, for some reason I want to say we had Twinkies with us, but I know for a fact we had popcorn because there was some stuck in her hair when we left the theater.
6. In Shark Bait, we learned about Tristan’s favorite t-shirt. Do you have a favorite article of clothing? Or are you a “whatever’s on the ground and doesn’t smell dirty” kind of guy?
What kind of question is that?! Do I seem like the kind of guy who’d walk around stinky and wrinkled? Hell no! I take pride in my appearance, damnit! But, I’m also not as sentimental about stuff in the same way as Tristan, so no; I don’t have a favorite article of clothing.
Actually though, I am sort of fond of a sombrero I got in Mexico a couple summers ago…
Well okey dokey then…I’m guessing he’s done. I checked both sides of the paper and he didn’t write anything else, so, on behalf of Jeff and the rest of the GYP gang, I just want to thank Jac again for hosting a stop on the Shark Bait Back to School Blog Hop! Honestly, Jac, you’ve been so amazing and I’ve truly loved working with you and getting to know you, and I SO appreciate all the support you’ve given to me and Shark Bait. :-* And thanks to all of you blog hoppers for stopping by For Love & Books today! I hope you’re having fun on this little journey of mine!
Oh and incidentally, after Jeff handed me his answers, he went hunting for Tristan and that sombrero. God only knows why…
And if you are curious? Jeff (and the rest of the GYP characters) has his own twitter and facebook page! (Because yes guys – Jenn Cooksey is that amazing and hilarious! I want to be her new best friend, seriously!! {In a non creepy way} )
